2024-03-14 Kent Wins the Day

2024-03-14 Kent Wins the Day

Gear Shed...
The forecast was for light wind in the 10-12mph range and coming from the East - not good.  I prepared myself for a day of sitting around and trying to recover from my sore throat, which has now turned into a cough as well.

Around 11:30, Kent went past, said he thought there was some wind, and that he was heading down to the beach.

Louise and I took our time, but gathered our stuff and headed down - expecting to see Kent sitting in his regular chair in the shade, reading.

When we got down to the beach, Kent was out on his 6.1 sail and BLASTING back and forth!  WTF.  The wind was straight on shore, but definitely enough to foil in.  Darn...

I rigged a 5.5m wing for Louise and the 7.0 wing for me.  As we headed out, we could feel the wind drop a bit.  We both slogged out (I think Louise made two runs).  I kept slogging out thinking the wind might get better, but then I saw Kent just standing on his board, so I turned around and slogged back.

It took Kent awhile, but he managed to get back, slogging all the way.  He said he got out and had a great sail, not coming off the foil or touching the water for the whole session.. until he wasn't foiling... then he didn't foil again and slogged back.

Still a win for sure - I had to tell Kent I was sorry I killed the wind for him!!

We sat and read on the beach for awhile, hoping that the wind would pick up.  After a bit, I had to head back to the room (my short sailing session didn't help my cold at all, apparently).

Louise, Kent and Lorna went to the Baja Grill for supper (joining Chuck, Kate & Lisa) and had a great meal once again.

(I just wasn't feeling up to it, and didn't want to cough all over them).

It looks like better wind tomorrow.  I hope I am up to it!

Sorry, no photos today.
