2024-06-05 Never Leave Wind to Find Wind

Never Leave Wind to Find Wind!

Louise and I were up and gone by 8:00.  As we were driving past our public beach, we could see the whitecaps.  My weather station was already reporting 30kph.  Darn, we are going to miss this one.

As we were driving south the WhatsApp chatter started - and kept going - and just wouldn't stop.

It looks like it was windy at Slave Lake, and Eddy got out; windy at Pigeon, but I don't know if anyone got out; windy at Wabamun, and Kent, Cam and Tim got out; and Windy at Alberta Beach where Vadim, who was sick and decided to isolate himself, decided to go.

Cam said he was on his "Omen Flux" whatever the hell that is, but it is only 60L so sometimes difficult to waterstart.

Omen Flux?

It seemed like 4.8 was the call for the most part, but Vadim was on a 5.6.

It sounds like everyone had a great day!

Louise and I got to Shaganappi in Calgary around noon and found a parking spot on the street.  We did a 60km bike ride which Komoot calls the Annie's Café - Under the bridge, Shaganappi Loop ride.  It turned out to be one of our favourite all time rides.  It was almost all on bike trails.  We had great views of the Calgary Golf Course; went past the Glenbow Reservoir, with a spectacular view of the mountains in the distance; past the steam train - whistling as it arrived in Heritage Park; around and past the sailing club and docks; through Fish Creek Park with great views of the river; stopped at the historic Annie's Café for a sandwich and ice cream; and then continued north and eventually rode along the river through the downtown area and west out to Shaganappi where we started.  It was really amazing!  We would recommend it to anyone!

In the evening we had a great night of Pizza and Wine with Louise's brother, Sister in-law, and their new puppy.  We didn't get foiling, but we sure had a great day and a great start to our trip!
