| This local said he had never seen the swell so big at Moiser... Ted in the background on 3.3 |
We had a bit of a lazy morning. Maybe we were all suffering from Post Oilers Depression (POD). Is that a thing?
The forecast was for very windy, especially out east.
Louise and I made it out to Moiser by around 11:00. Louise bought a Latte at the Moisier coffee shop, RANDONNÉE COFFEE. Louise was really impressed that they can put a heart in her coffee even when it is a thermos with an inch and a half throat.
When we got to Moiser, there were only two or three people on the beach, and they were all leaving. As I was getting ready to sail, we were the only ones there, but a few people did arrive as I was ready to go out.
I went out on my 4.5 Wing and 799 Foil, but only did a few reaches before coming back in to change to my 3.5m Wing. I had a pretty good session, although I was overpowered most of the time.
I came in for lunch around 2:00. Ross showed up and decided he would go out on his 5m Kite, but would use his directional board rather than his foil. Most people were coming off the water because it was just too windy. One local, who was one of the better foilers, was saying he had never seen the swell as big at Moiser!

I went out again, but only did a few reaches because the wind was just overpowering. If it had been my first day or session, I probably would have stayed out for a while, but I wasn't having fun and I was already tired and sore, so I decided to call it a day, and not take a chance hurting myself or damaging my gear!
Ross came in and switched to his 4m Kite and went out again. He had a lot of fun, but also took some good falls, partly because he hasn't used his directional recently as he almost exclusively kite foils.
Louise and I packed up and headed back to the Condo. Louise wanted to start packing as she flies home tomorrow.
Ross, Louise and I enjoyed a beverage on the deck, enjoying the early evening before supper.
Louise was feeling better today and thought she might be up for a short bike ride, so at 6:30, Ross, Louise and I headed down to the "Ruins" by the old train station for a concert. It was really a cool experience. The band was great, and it was a really cool environment! Louise and I even ran into Sophia, who we know from La Ventana!

Kent arrived just after 8:00. He parked in the lot and came down to talk to us. We agreed to go to Mountain Pizza for supper. In that 10 minute period, Kent got a parking ticket.... Welcome to Hood River.
The Pizza and service at Mountain Pizza was great! Fun catching up with Kent.
Looking forward to more sailing tomorrow, but sorry to see Louise going home!
