Vadim drove up the Mountain and took some photos.. Beautiful!
Temira's forecast was for very calm water today. I-Kitesurf was just a bit better showing light westerlies in the corridor.
The morning started out as usual with Coffee at Dog River. Big Air Jim left early to get his old booms re-gripped, and Handré went to sailworks to pick up his foil.
The rest of us walked down the street to Doppio Coffee for a breakfast sandwich, or yogurt/oatmeal/fruit mix.
Brad and Big Air Jim decided to take a golfing day, and apparently had a lot of fun! Sorry - no photos.
Vadim decided to go for a drive to Mount Hood, and took some spectacular photos. He sent me the one at the start of this post!
John and Big Jim went for a bike ride to the Rowena Lookout! In the evening I heard John commenting about how beautiful the ride is. When they were finished, they joined Cam, Cynthia, Ross and Handré down at the Event Site.
Everyone got out. Handré sailed for two hours on his 7.0. Cam was on his 1,100 foil. He said it gets up in almost nothing, but is REEEEEEAALY SLOOOOOOW, and interesting to jibe, but he made it work. He also had some big crashes - and towards the end of the day he fell an the foil punctured the fabric on his wing... Damn...
John, Jim and Cynthia also got out on big gear and had some good runs.
Kent originally went to the event site (and paid his $15US for the day's parking), but then saw that it looked a little windier up at the Hatchery, so he and Blain headed there. I was still in the condo putting the finishing touches on the previous day's blog update, so when I got the message from Kent that it was sailable, I headed directly there. Kent and Blain were rigging when I got there.
I started to rig, and then realized I had left my wetsuit hanging by the garage at Ross's condo. Damn. Senior moment! I thought about driving back for it, but then decided to use my shorty instead. It cool but not that bad. Blaine admitted that after sailing he had to drive back to the event site to pick up the chair that he had left there in the morning. Senior moments all around!!! I found out later that Cam and Cynthia also left their wetsuits at the Condo, and had to call Handré to have him bring it down to them. And they aren't even seniors yet!!! The funny part was Cynthia trying to describe the colour of her wetsuit to Handré - when it was the only ladies wetsuit, and she is the only member of the group under 6 feet - It was obvious which was hers....

Blaine and Kent had great days on their 6.0m Flyers and 800 foils.
I was first out and had a short session on my 5.5m Wing and 899 foil before a barge came through. It's funny how often it happens, and I have no idea why, but often when a barge comes through, the wind backs off, or even quits. Anyway it backed off enough so that my 5.5 was just not quit enough.
Blaine and Kent came out just after the barge on their 6m Flyer sails, and were perfectly powered. Blaine did over 40km and Kent did over 65km. Alex and Teresa were sailing there as well as a host of riders on slingshot boards so it was a lot of fun to be on the water. The slingshot riders sure ride differently! They were on 3.1 to 4.1 sails and having a blast doing tricks.
Alex had a custom built rocket ship made for Teresa over the winter and it looks so fast! If anyone wants a Roberts board Teresa is selling hers. Late in the day Bruce flew by on 7 and after we left for the hockey game Dale sailed up as well but we were all off the water.
I rigged my 8m wing and went out and had another great session until I noticed that my wing was slowly deflating.... You don't really notice it while you are foiling, but when you come off a foil, (or crash), and have to pump, the wing just flaps like a bird and doesn't give you any power. I had to slog back. I pumped it up again, and had another session. I will need to get the wing looked at.

My 8.0 Vision worked really well, until it started to get soft... A lady walking past when I was inflating it said "I have never seen a wing that big!!"
For a no wind day, I think everyone had a lot of fun - a great day was had by all!
The highlight of the day, however was the oilers game. I got home just before the game started and went to set up my laptop so we could watch the game.... and it wouldn't turn on. Completely dead. DAMN! Nothing I did helped. People were starting to panic! Brad (and everyone) were watching the game on his phone! I ran around trying everything I could think of, while everyone crowded around Brad's phone. By the start of the second period we were finally able to get the game on TV by using Ross's laptop, my VPN software and my Amazon Prime, Sports Net subscription! Thanks to Louise at home for scrambling to get me my Prime password so we could run it on Ross's computer!

Brad - Proud Oilers Fan!
What a game! I am afraid we were a bit loud, but we didn't have any neighbors on either side. I don't know that I have ever watched a more exciting game! I'm sure I don't have to tell you about it. I will tell you that Brad is fun to watch. I don't know how many times he jumped out of his chair. He was so excited about the final empty net goal, that he actually missed it and didn't realize that the fist attempt missed, and it was it was McDavid who gathered the puck after the initial play and then put it away!
Go Oilers Go!
When the game was over, we enjoyed food from the Thai House. Excellent, although I was pretty hungry because when I got to the Hatchery I was too focused on getting out on the water to remember to eat my lunch.
